Road Safety Workshop Week At Gyan Mandir Public School
On the occasion of the 5th United Nations Global Road Safety Week Gyan Mandir School, Naraina Vihar organized a symposium on 2nd May 2019. The programme was attended by students Divyam Chutani XI A, Aryan Gupta XI A , Kartik Singh X C accompanied by Ms. Uma Gandhi. The students of the host school staged a street play showcasing the importance of following the traffic rules. This was followed by a declamation competition in which the students spoke about the problems and demands regarding Road Safety. A workshop was conducted separately for both students and teachers. The spokesperson reiterated the need for following the traffic rules, wearing of seat belts in the cars and helmets on two wheelers. Clippings of road accidents due to negligence or breaking the traffic rules were also shown. The Chief Guest for the occasion was Mr. Ramandeep Chaudhary, Deputy Secretary for Ministry of Road Transport. Mr P. K. Banerjee, Deputy Executive Director of SLAM, Students Leadership Programme also graced the occasion. The programme for very informative and it motivated the students to sensitise their friends and relatives to obey the traffic rules.
 


 

World Red Cross Day
Every year, the 8th of May is celebrated as World Red Cross Day. The day is celebrated because it marks the birth anniversary of Henry Dunant, the Founder of the Red Cross. This special Day is observed internationally in order to reduce the suffering of the people and enable them to live a more dignified life. The idea is to protect mankind from emergencies and natural disasters such as epidemics, earthquakes and floods. Saloni Dhingra of Class 12 E explained the importance of the Red Cross Day during the School Assembly.

Awakened Citizens - Workshop on Value Education
A two day workshop entitled Awakened Citizens Programme was conducted by the Ramakrishan Mission on 6th and 7th May 2019 at the Ramakrishna Mission Ashram. The focus of the programme was to reinforce the unique and universal possibilities which are the essence of every human being and to focus on how universal possibilities can transform ordinary people into extraordinary human beings. In the session the class facilitation tool adopted by the Awakened Citizen Programme was explained in detail as it would empower teachers to help the students to realize their innate potentials. The workshop was attended by Ms. Kanika Juneja.
 


   

Orientation Day - Class 3
An Orientation Programme for Class 3 parents and students was organized on 11th May 2019, in the School Auditorium. The programme aimed to apprise the parents about salient points of examination system and the formulation of result in scholastic and co-scholastic areas. The induction program provided all vital information, the scheduling, the routine, the changes in the curriculum, and the amendments in the manner in which the exams will be conducted. The teachers defined and illustrated the Marking System, the Grading Scales, the Percentage Structure and distribution of Academic Session. The programme also covered the various Safety and Security measures followed by School, both inside and outside its premises. The programme concluded with an informative counselling session on enhancement of learning skills and habit formation in children by Ms. Swetha Lakshmi, a well-known Child Psychologist. The session concluded with the PTM.
 


 

Workshop on English Writing and Literature
A workshop on 'Developing Reading Comprehension and Creative Writing in Literature and Poetry was held at Springdales School, Pusa Road, on 17 May, 2019. The resource person Ms. Ranjini Krishnaswamy, laid great emphasis on reading aloud, developing vocabulary and improving comprehension skills in young students. Several methods for improvement in the above areas were suggested by her, like role play, weaving a story, vocabulary tree, English Ankakshari etc. She also suggested basing comprehension question on VIPERS (Vocab, Inference, Prediction, Explanation, Recall and Sequential). The workshop was attended by Ms. Nanda Khanna (TGT., English) and Ms. Yasmin Paul (PRT).
 


 

Motivational Staff Workshop on Communication Skills
A Motivational workshop on Communication Skills was held on 20th May 2019 in the school Auditorium for all the staff members. The resource person Mr. Ravinder Gorshi talked about various forms of communications like - Verbal Communication, Written Communication and Non Verbal Communication. He spoke at length about effective ways in which we can put forth our view point without being offensive and overbearing. He talked about the importance of good Body Language and pleasant Facial Expressions while speaking to someone. The teacher were informed of the 7 C's of Effective Communication; Completeness, Conciseness, Clarity, Concreteness, Courtesy and Correctness. The workshop was very informative and the Teachers went back with a treasure trove of beneficial information.
 


 

Staff Workshop - Building Student Teacher Rapport
On 21st May, 2019 a workshop on Developing A Rapport with Students was conducted by Ms. Monika Solanki. Ms. Solanki emphasized on the importance of building a good rapport with the students and that the role of teacher was the most important. She stressed that the teacher should be approachable, and a positive rapport has a significant impact upon students' attitude towards learning which promotes behavioral engagements with all the students. Attitude of gratitude was highlighted during the session. Overall it was an interactive and informative workshop.
 


 

CBSE Workshop for HUBS of Learning - Lead Collaborator Schools
An Orientation programme for Lead Collaborator Schools about activities to be undertaken under Hubs of Learning Programme was organized by the CBSE on 29th May 2019 at the Sadhu Vaswani International School for Girls, Shanti Niketan, New Delhi. The objective of the Orientation was to clarify the doubts regarding functioning of the Hubs of Learning and to understand the need of the social and team building aspects of growth of educational fraternity. The Orientation was of great help in understanding the roles and responsibility about the activities to undertaken under the HOL Programme. The informative session was attended by Ms. Seema Khetrapal (PGT Economics) and Ms. Sonia Dogra (PGT Computer Science).
