Orientation Day - Class I
The Orientation Day for the children of Class I and their parents was held in the School auditorium on Saturday, 1st April, 2017. After the customary welcome, the School Anthem was played. Thereafter, the Parents were presented with an overview of the school that provides for an excellent opportunity with the transition from the home to school. Parents were informed that at CFS their children have the opportunity to get great education. The importance, of building positive relationships and experiences in the earlier years were highlighted. They were briefed through a formal presentation of the CFS’s emphasis on the total development of the child and that the school provides a holistic education to maximise the potential of every child while equally developing a strong moral character. The school rules and regulations were detailed and every subject teacher enumerated the philosophy and content of their subject. The School’s focus on digital learning was dwelled upon at length. A special interactive session with parents was held by highly qualified Dr. Ruchika Mittal, a renowned audiologist and speech language pathologist on effective parenting and coping up skills.
 


 

Orientation Programme - Class 9
The Orientation Programme for Class 9 was held on 6th April 2017 in the School auditorium on account of the change in the evaluation system and the scheme of studies. The teachers highlighted the various aspects of scholastic and co-scholastic areas of education. They even talked about the marking scheme and the grading scale on which the students will be evaluated. In the present session Foundation of Information Technology (FIT) will be the sixth additional scholastic subject. The entire session will be divided in two terms - Term-1 and Term-2. Internal assessment will be based on the subject enrichment activities and the students will be marked for the same the entire year.
 


 

Orientation Programme - Class 10
Reaffirming our commitment to the concept of providing quality education to the students and bringing parents abreast with the changing trends in the assessment brought about by CBSE, an Orientation Programme was held for Class X on 7th April 2017 in the School auditorium. The programme aimed at informing parents that the Board Exams have been restored in Class X and there would be a Remodeled Assessment Pattern, which the parents apprised about in detail.
 


 

Orientation Programme - Class 3
Education is the need of present hour. Reaffirming our commitment to the concept of providing quality education to the students and bringing parents abreast with the changing trends, an Orientation Programme was held for the Parents and students of Class 3 on 8th April 17 in the School auditorium. The workshop was organized to apprise the parents with the functioning of school and remodeled assessment pattern at school in accordance to the CBSE pattern. The valuable suggestions were welcomed by the parents and their queries were also answered. The workshop was highly appreciated by the parents as they were also acquainted with the teaching patterns and examination process. The School Manager, Ms. Meena Malik, thanked the parents and welcomed their suggestions. The Orientation Programme was was followed by Dr. Roma Kumar’s lecture on Good Parenting Tips, who is a clinical psychologist at the Ganga Ram Hospital. Dr. Kumar also answered queries of the parents.
 

Orientation Programme - Class 6
An Orientation programme was held for Class 6 on 10th April 2017 in the School auditorium. The programme aimed at informing parents about the Remodelled Assessment and Evaluation Pattern that would be implemented beginning this session. The parents were acquainted with the changing trends in the assessment brought about by the CBSE thus reaffirming our sincere commitment to the concept of providing quality education to the students.


 

Orientation Programme - Class 7
Reaffirming our commitment to the concept of providing quality education to the students and bringing parents abreast with the changing trends in the assessment brought about by CBSE, an Orientation Programme was held for the Parents and students of Class 7 on 11th April 2017 in the School auditorium. The orientation programme aimed at informing parents about the new evaluation system in scholastic and co-scholastic areas.
 


 

Orientation Programme - Class 8
The Class 8 Orientation Programme was held on April 13th, 2017 in the School auditorium on account of the change in the evaluation system and the scheme of studies. The teachers highlighted on the various scholastic and co-scholastic aspects of education. They even talked about the marking scheme and the grading scale on which the students will be evaluated. In the present session Fundamentals of Information Technology (FIT) will be a part of the main subjects. The entire session will be divided in two terms i.e., Term 1 and Term 2. Internal assessment will be based on the subject enrichment activities and the students will be marked for the same the entire year. Students will be marked on an eight point grading scale in the scholastic areas and three point grading scale in the co-scholastic areas.
 


 

Celebrating Baisakhi & Ambedkar Jayanti
Class 1
On the auspicious occasion of ‘Baisakhi ‘ and Ambedkar Jayanti a small celebration took place in Class 1. The celebrations commenced with an introduction to why Baisakhi and Ambedkar Jayanti are celebrated. The children were shown animated videos regarding the same. The children displayed their enthusiasm dancing to popular Punjabi folk music. They splashed colours on sheets and made beautiful drawings depicting the festival. The celebration concluded on a sweet note when children enjoyed sharing the scrumptious deserts which they had brought with them.

Class 2
The students of class 2 started the celebrations with Baisakhi greetings. Students in yellow attire recited poems with actions on Baisakhi. They made Dhol and decorated it and shared sweets among themselves. To pay tribute to Dr. Bhim Rao Ambedkar, the Father of the Constitution of India, the students were informed about his life and work and his contributions.
 

Class 3
The children of Class 3 celebrated Ambedkar Jayanti and Baisakhi with zeal and enthusiasm. They were explained that Ambedkar Jayanti is celebrated to mark the birth anniversary of the Late Dr. B R Ambedkar who wrote the constitution of our Country. They all made a book mark and wrote famous quotes on it. They were also explained that Baisakhi is the harvest festival of our country but it is celebrated specially in Punjab and Haryana. Children were dressed up in hues of yellow. They all made a kite and decorated it with beads and ribbons etc.
 

Class 4
The students of Class 4 celebrated the harvest festival of Baisakhi and the Birth Anniversary of Dr B. R. Ambedkar with enthusiasm and devotion. The day started by paying tribute to Dr. Ambedkar. The teachers highlighted the contribution of Dr. Ambedkar in drafting the constitution of India and also his works. Videos related to festival of Baisakhi were shown in the class. Students were wearing colourful Punjabi attire and danced joyfully on the bhangra tunes. They made beautiful flowers using pulses of different colours.
 

Class 5
Baisakhi is the festival of colours and brings a sense of positivity in the environment. Class 5 celebrated the festival with colours, vibrancy and enthusiasm. As part of a special assembly, the students performed Gidda and Bhangra to the invigorating tunes of Punjabi folk music. They also shared sweets and savouries brought from home. Dr.Ambedkar Jayanti which falls on 14th April was also celebrated. Students spoke on the achievements of Dr Ambedkar and recited the preamble of the Constitution. They also decorated their class with sketches of Dr. Ambedkar and Baisakhi Greetings.


 

Global Voting Programme for the Children's World Prize / Children's Noble Prize
The World’s Children’s Prize also known as the Noble Prize for Children, is the most distinguished award for children’s organizations. It seeks to educate children about their rights and empower them to claim those rights. The heroes of Children’s Rights were nominated by the Child Jury comprising of representatives of children from around the globe who are experts on the rights of children because of their own experiences of having those rights violated. Three amazing Child Right advocates who were nominated for the World’s Children’s Prize in 2016 were:
1.ROSI GOLLMANN for her over 50-year fight for the poorest and most vulnerable children in India and Bangladesh.
2.MANUEL RODRIGUES for his 20-year fight for blind children and children with different abilities in Guniea – Bissau.
3.MOLLY MELCHING for her 40-year struggle to end female genital cutting, child marriage ad forced marriage.
The Global Vote for the winner of The World’s Children’s Prize takes place in democratic and non-democratic countries all over the world.
CFS conducted Global Vote on Thursday, 13th April 2017 in the 3rd period. Students of classes 8th to 12th participated in this event with lots of enthusiasm. The voting was done by secret ballot. The result of the Global Vote has been sent to the World Children Prize Organization.
 

Safety India - Traffic Awareness Workshop
The School in association with the NGO, MIW Foundation organised a Traffic Awareness workshop conducted by Honda Motorcycles and Scooter India Pvt. Ltd. It was held for two days on 17th and 18th April 2017. The project was named "Safety India". It was an informative workshop and aimed at creating awareness about Road Safety and usage of Road signs correctly amongst students. The students were give an hands-on experience on the correct technique of riding a motorbike using a mini bike which the children rode themselves under supervision and with all safety measures and protective gear. It was an exuberating and learning experience for all.


 

Economics Workshop
A workshop on Economics was held on 25th April 2017 at the Ramjas School, R.K. Puram. The resource person, Prof. J.P. Goel, highlighted on the Project Work which has been introduced for the session 2017 -18 for Economics for Class XII. The session was informative and interactive. Various topics like Determination of Equilibrium Price, Forms of Market, Balance of Payments were discussed for the project work. The workshop was attended by, Ms. Seema Khetrapal, PGT Economics.
